Texas Tech’s 1,600-meter relay team ran the NCAA’s fastest time of the new season Saturday, highlighting the two-day Tech Open.
Steven Champlin, Kyle Collins, Joseph Richards III and Charles Jones finished in 3 minutes, 9.40 seconds.
The Tech women’s team posted the fourth-best time in the NCAA so far, a 3:40.04.
The two-day meet was conducted at the Athletic Training Center. Tech’s Kyle Thompson won the pole vault with a personal record 16 feet, 103/4 inches.
