Following online reports that Texas focused its head coaching search on Texas Tech’s Tim Tadlock, the Red Raiders head man set the record straight about his current mindset by posting to social media Tuesday morning.
“To end all speculation, my family and I are Red Raiders,” the Red Raiders head coach Tweeted. “We are looking forward to finishing what we started. #WTT”
Texas Tech senior first baseman Eric Gutierrez earned his fifth All-America accolade of the season Monday as he garnered third-team honors by Perfect Game. Meanwhile, Right-handed pitcher Davis Martin garnered yet another freshman all-America honor on Monday as he earned first-team accolades from Baseball America.
Gutierrez, who was drafted by the Miami Marlins, hit .333 this past season with 13 home runs and 60 RBI en route to being named the Big 12 Player of the Year. It marked just the second time in school history where a Red Raider had earned the honor.

OMAHA — As Erikson Lanning trotted out onto the mound, Texas Tech became the fist team since 1986 to start three freshmen pitchers in the College World Series. Steven Gingery started the Red Raiders’ first game in Omaha against TCU and allowed two runs off five hits with two strikeouts through 4 1/3 innings pitched.
Then it was Davis Martin’s turn as he picked up the win as Texas Tech eliminated overall No. 1 seed Florida 3-2. Martin, through a career-high seven innings, held the Gators scoreless off three hits with three strikeouts.
OMAHA — Texas Tech fell to Coastal Carolina 7-5 in the College World Series Thursday night inside TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha.
Errors plagued the Red Raiders as only one of the Chanticleers runs were earned.
Texas Tech finished the game with three errors as every Red Raider infielder has now recorded an error in Omaha.
The Red Raiders jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the second as Stephen Smith rocketed a double to the outfield with the bases loaded to score three.
OMAHA — This is not the way the Red Raiders wanted to leave Omaha.
The ideal storybook ending to their season was toting some national championship hardware as they boarded the flight home to Lubbock while rocking celebratory T-shirts and hats as “Raider Power” cheers still echoed in their ears.

Coastal Carolina entered the College World Series with 94 home runs and 70 sacrifice bunts.
Despite putting up 32 runs off 59 hits throughout the regional and super regional rounds, Coastal Carolina has totaled three runs off 15 hits in Omaha.
