Late rally falls short as Tech loses to Florida International 9-7
The Texas Tech baseball team dropped its fourth straight game on its Florida road trip, falling behind big and coming up short in a late rally for a 9-7 defeat at the hands of Florida International on Monday at FIU Stadium.
The Red Raiders (4-4) led 3-2 through three after scoring single runs in the first, second and third innings. But FIU (7-1) took the lead in the fourth on a pair of RBI singles by Julius Gaines and Zach Sweety, then got a home run from T.J. Shantz and an infield single from Nathan Burns in the fifth to extend the lead to 6-2.
