Big 12 Roundup: No. 4 Missouri drops No. 6 Baylor, 72-57

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Phil Pressey scored 19 points and four of No. 4 Missouri’s season-best 14 3-pointers, helping the Tigers pull away in the second half of a 72-57 victory over No. 6 Baylor on Saturday.

Sixth man Michael Dixon also had four 3-pointers and Marcus Denmon added three for Missouri (23-2, 10-2 Big 12), which shot 50 percent from long range.

AUSTIN — J’Covan Brown scored 23 points and Texas got a career effort from senior forward Alexis Wangmene to rally to a victory over Kansas State.

The Longhorns’ third win in a row is an important one for a team desperate to build its NCAA tournament resume over the final weeks of the regular season.

AMES, Iowa — Chris Allen scored a season-high 25 points and Iowa State pounded Texas A&M for its fourth victory in five games.

Scott Christopherson added 10 points for the Cyclones (18-7, 8-4 Big 12), who pulled into a tie with Baylor for third place in the Big 12 ahead of Monday night’s showdown with the Bears in Waco, Texas.

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Jeff Withey and Thomas Robinson each logged impressive double-doubles for No. 7 Kansas, which wasted a big chunk of a 29-point second-half cushion before pulling away for a victory over Oklahoma State.

Withey finished with 18 points and a career-best 20 rebounds, while Robinson burnished his player of the year credentials with 24 points and 14 boards for his 18th double-double of the season.

WACO — Brittney Griner scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds as top-ranked Baylor got off to a quick start and avenged its last loss, beating No. 15 Texas A&M in their first meeting since last year’s NCAA tournament.

Griner put the Lady Bears (25-0, 12-0 Big 12) ahead to stay with her inside basket and free throw only 29 seconds into the game.
