Hard work as walk-on taught Roosevelt standout Stone lessons
As is the case for walk-ons at virtually every Division I football program, the odds were against cornerback Nathan Stone to come from Class 2A Roosevelt and see much playing time at Texas Tech. He stayed determined to succeed, and despite obstacles he faced along the way — and a career-ending injury — the uphill battle made a lasting impact on his life.
“It’s definitely a life lesson,” Stone said. “It showed me that with hard work and motivation and determination, really anything is possible. I went out there, and to be honest, I knew the odds were against me.
