Against the wind
If Texas Tech QB Seth Doege is going to have a memorable last home game, he might have to do it in ugly weather conditions. The National Weather Service Forecast between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. today calls for 28 to 32 mph wind out of the south southwest with gusts from 41 to 48 mph.
No big deal for Kansas, which has thrown only two TD passes in the last seven games. But it’s a lousy forecast for a passing team such as Tech on its senior day.
Officials from the Alamo and Buffalo Wild Wings bowls are on hand to look at Texas Tech. The Alamo Bowl matches a Big 12 team against a Pac-12 team on Dec. 29 in San Antonio.
The Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl pits a Big 12 team against a Big Ten team on Dec. 29 in Tempe, Ariz. The two games are televised back to back on ESPN, at 5:45 p.m. and 9:15 p.m.
The two bowls pick after the BCS, Fiesta and Cotton bowls.
Kansas RB James Sims’ strong 2012 season has him approaching NFL legends in the Jayhawks’ record book. Today Sims could tie Gale Sayers for career 100-yard games and pass John Riggins for career rushing attempts on the KU charts. Sayers had 11 100-yard performances and Riggins had 518 carries, both fifth-most in Kansas history. Sims has 10 100-yard games and 500 carries. Sims needs 32 yards to jump from 11th to eighth in KU career rushing.
