Munday standout athlete Dee Paul gave his official commitment to Texas Tech late Saturday night live on a Wichita Falls television station.
Paul, who led the Moguls to the Class 1A Division II state championship last month, chose the Red Raiders over Baylor and Tennessee.
The versatile athlete spoke to Wreckem247.com earlier in the week but would not give a hint as to which school he had selected.
“I chose (Tech) just because it is the best fit for me,” Paul said of the Tech. “I think I’ll get my playing time the fastest and get my chance the fastest at this place.”
The 5-foot-11, 160-pound athlete plans to also run track in college. Paul plans to compete in the 400-meter hurdles and the 1,600 relay.
“It’s something I think I can handle,” Paul said. “It’s going to be hard, I know it’s going to be hard but I think I’ll be fine.”
Paul had a monster year statistically playing both ways for the Moguls, rushing for 1,957 yards while throwing for 1,680 yards with 64 total touchdowns. On defense he recorded 57 tackles, eight interceptions, three fumble recoveries and five defensive touchdowns.
