Jarrett Stidham needed just five months to become a prized quarterback recruit last year.
The Stephenville High senior finished his sophomore year without a scholarship offer. But credit a strong set of spring practices and summer camps for helping him earn six offers despite not having started a varsity game at the position.
The Tennessee Volunteers projected such a bright future for him that they offered when he attended a camp. They had never spoken to him until two days earlier.
“It was a little odd, but I was really blessed to be in that position,” said Stidham, who committed to Texas Tech in March. “I felt strong in what I could do. It ended up working out.”
Consider that an understatement.
