When a team takes a hard fall from recent residence in the top 25, many college football observers would agree the fastest way back is to sign a top 25 recruiting class. Texas Tech more or less managed to do that Wednesday, landing a well-regarded class on the heels of its first losing season since 1992. On national signing day, Tech added 17 newcomers to the nine who already enrolled at mid-term. Four major recruiting services all ranked the Red Raiders’ haul among the top 30 in the nation, and an average of the four rankings actually had Tech’s class No. 25.

Lovett expects Falemi on the field in '12 02/01/12 - 4:41pm

New Texas Tech defensive backs coach John Lovett recruited Olaoluwa Falemi in the month since he arrived in Lubbock and scored a commitment from him Sunday. Falemi then signed his letter of intent to play for Tech on Wednesday. Lovett spoke of Falemi with passion, saying the 5-foot-10, 170-pound defensive back will contribute during the 2012 season. Falemi comes to Tech with two years of eligibility after transferring from Los Angeles Harbor College. Once again, I'll step to the side and let Lovett tell you all about Tech's new defensive back.

Tuberville talks recruits, exits and silver helmets 02/02/12 - 1:37am

Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville announced several personnel moves Wednesday during his national signing day news conference. Among them: ■ Jim Turner submitted his resignation Tuesday only six weeks after being hired as offensive line coach. Turner got caught in a chain of circumstances in which he needed a job after Texas A&M fired head coach Mike Sherman, but Sherman landed the offensive coordinator gig with the Miami Dolphins and rehired Turner as the Dolphins’ offensive line coach.
