Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville will turn to two of his long-time assistants to fill vacancies created by a staff shakeup last week. Tech is in the process of hiring assistants Terry Price and John Lovett, The Avalanche-Journal has learned. Price, 43, was the defensive ends coach the entire 14 years Tuberville was head coach at Mississippi (1995-98) and Auburn (1999-2008). Lovett, 61, was Tuberville’s defensive backs coach all four years at Ole Miss and the defensive coordinator Tuberville’s first three years at Auburn.

Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville acknowledged staff changes are pending, but wouldn’t confirm a report Friday by CBSSports.com’s Bruce Feldman that he has fired assistant coaches Matt Moore, Sam McElroy and Otis Mounds. “I don’t know where he gets all that from,” Tuberville said. “There’ll be some changes, but I haven’t reported number or names or anything.”

Two head-coaching jobs for which Texas Tech offensive coordinator Neal Brown interviewed last week have been filled. Massachusetts has chosen Notre Dame offensive coordinator Charley Molnar as its new head coach, the Daily Hampshire Gazette reported Wednesday. The report said UMass will introduce Molnar at a news conference Thursday. UMass, Brown's alma mater and the place he started coaching, is moving to Division I next season to be a member of the Mid-American Conference.
