Texas Tech senior defensive tackle Donald Langley and sophomore wide receiver Aaron Fisher were injured Saturday against Oklahoma State and will miss the rest of the season. Langley suffered a broken ankle, and Fisher tore his anterior cruciate ligament. Both will have surgery in the coming days, Tech coach Tommy Tuberville said. “Aaron was was pretty much our team captain on special teams, and he had made some crucial third down catches this year,” Tuberville said. “He’s really coming on his own. He had hurt his elbow a couple weeks ago and tough to lose him.

Forget the 66 points No. 2 Oklahoma State churned out against Texas Tech on Saturday. Nobody realistically believed Tech’s 108th-ranked defense would slow down the Cowboys’ prolific offense. Certainly not after surrendering 807 rushing yards and 93 points in nauseating losses to Iowa State and Texas. But Tech’s offense, which was once good enough to survive high-scoring shootouts, has inexplicably languished. The Red Raiders averaged 43 points per game three weeks ago but have scored just 33 points in their last three contests combined.

Someone asked me Saturday the last time Texas Tech looked as non-competitive over a multi-game stretch as the Red Raiders have looked for the last three weeks. You know it’s bad when you have to reach back 25 years — in my case, year one of covering Tech football — to answer.
