Fultz, Warnecke homer in 8-4 triumph
SEATTLE — Texas Tech scored five runs in the second inning — two on a Devon Thomey double, another on Ashley Fultz’s solo homer — and went on to beat Seattle University 8-4 Wednesday night in the opener of a three-game road trip.
The second-inning salvo gave the Red Raiders a 5-0 lead. After Seattle narrowed the gap to 5-4, Tech tacked on insurance runs via Brittany Warnecke’s two-run homer in the sixth and Lea Hopson’s RBI single in the seventh.
Hopson finished 3 for 4 with two runs scored, and Thomey and Kierra Miles had two hits apiece of Tech’s 11.
