Three Red Raiders — sophomore Gretchen Aucoin, along with freshmen Sydni Emanuel and Cassie McClure — were named to the All-Region teams announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Thursday.
Tech’s three selections are its most since a school-record four Red Raiders were chosen in 2011. Texas Tech hadn’t previously had two freshmen honored on one of the three teams in school history.
Aucoin finished the year with a 14-9 record in the circle and a 2.43 ERA. At the plate, she hit .287 on the year with seven home runs and 31 RBI.
Emanuel hit .418 on the season, the second-highest in school history, and stole a school record 36 bases.
McClure lead the Red Raiders with nine homers and 44 RBI, snapping the Tech single-season freshmen record for RBI.
The all-region teams were voted on by NFCA member coaches from each respective region.
All honorees on any of the three squads are now eligible for selection to one of the three NFCA Division I All-American teams that will be announced on May 28 prior to the start of the Women’s College World Series held in Oklahoma City.
