Tech men finish fifth with three athletes
Texas Tech qualified only three men for the NCAA indoor track and field championships — enough, as it turned out, to make a major splash.
Senior Bryce Lamb won a national championship with the best triple jump of his life Saturday and the Red Raiders got fifth place, their all-time best showing, at the NCAA indoor in Fayetteville, Ark.
Lamb, distance runner Kennedy Kithuka and thrower Kole Weldon accounted for 28 points. The three were suitemates at the national meet. On Friday, Weldon got second in the shot put and Kithuka won the 5,000 meters.
