Freshman forward Shunta Nevitt will transfer from the Texas Tech women’s basketball program at semester’s end, according to a news release sent late Tuesday night.
Nevitt, a Houston native, played only five minutes in two games this season. She did not score in either game.
“I want to thank Coach (Kristy) Curry and Texas Tech for the opportunity to play here,” Nevitt said in the release. “I believe in my heart that it is in my best interest to move back closer to home.”
Nevitt starred at Spring Dekaney High School near Houston. Nevitt averaged nine points and six rebounds while hitting 47 percent from the field and helped lead Dekaney to a 40-2 record and the 2012 Class 5A state championship game.
“We respect Shunta’s feelings to return close to home and wish her nothing but the best,” Tech coach Kristy Curry said in the release.
