In Texas Tech women’s basektball’s final game at United Spirit Arena today at 2 p.m., a pair of Lady Raiders will be honored for their time in the red and black — seniors Shauntal Nobles and Haley Schneider.
Nobles has 527 points, 536 rebounds, a 44 percent field goal percentage and 53 blocks in 117 games in her Texas Tech career.
Nobles is a four-time Academic All-Big 12 selection and graduated with a degree in business administration and is working on her MBA.
This year, she is averaging 5.6 points per contest, a 3.1 increase from last season.
Schneider enters today’s game with 101 points, 85 rebounds, a 35.8 percent field goal percentage and 54 blocks in 60 games in her Tech career.
She was selected to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team this season, graduated in December with a civil engineering degree and is currently working on her master’s.
This season, Schneider is averaging 2.8 points per game, the most over her four years.
Fellow senior Kelsi Baker still has another year to play in a Lady Raiders uniform after sitting out this season after rupturing her Achille’s tendon.
Tech can either decide to ask for a medical redshirt or just issue Baker a redshirt itself since she’s played every year.
With Baker cheering on her team from the sidelines, Nobles and Schneider will play big roles against Texas this afternoon in the USA.
When the Lady Raiders and the Longhorns faced off earlier this year, Texas dominated the paint 48-4.
The Longhorns finished with only two blocks, one each by 6-foot-5 Kelsey Lang and 6-foot-7 Imani McGee-Stafford; however, Tech finished shooting 28.6 percent from the field.
