Karunde, relays excel at NCAA track for Tech   01/13/11 - 10:36pm

EUGENE, Ore. - The Texas Tech men's track and field team went into June ranked No. 5 in the nation. But when CBS televises the last day of competition from the NCAA outdoor championships Saturday, the 18th-ranked Tech women will be getting more of the face time. The Tech women on Thursday qualified their second relay to Saturday's finals, while distance runner Winrose Karunde ran a personal record time to advance to the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Colorado accepts bid to join Pac-10   01/13/11 - 10:36pm

Tuberville excited by Pac-10 possibility   01/13/11 - 10:36pm

In event of breakup, Tuberville says Tech going west is best scenario

After Big 12 and Pac-10 bigwigs met a month ago in Phoenix and discussed helping each other with television and non-conference scheduling, someone wondered aloud to Tommy Tuberville if the talks might mushroom into something more. Not possible, the new Texas Tech coach replied, dismissing the idea of a merger. Too hard to pull off. “It goes to show you how quickly things can change,’’ Tuberville said Thursday. “I had no clue. And I’m still a little amazed that this is going on.’’

Tech official: Tech, UT, A&M will stay together   01/13/11 - 10:36pm

If reports are true and Nebraska leaves the Big 12 Conference this week, schools could join Pac-10

When Nebraska leaves the Big 12 Conference this week, so too will Texas Tech, Texas and Texas A&M, a high-ranking Tech official confirmed Wednesday. The official said those three Texas universities have vowed to stick together through any major conference upheaval, which - according to multiple reports from reputable newspapers across the country - Nebraska will trigger this week. The University of Texas, along with Tech and A&M, should soon be leaving the conference to join the Pacific-10 Conference, according to the source.
