AUSTIN — The top seed in the Big 12 tournament might be without infielder Brandon Loy because an MRI shows the Texas shortstop has a bruised left shoulder.
Texas coach Augie Garrido says Loy could miss the tournament, which opens Wednesday in Oklahoma City.
Garrido said Monday that an MRI confirmed the bruise.
Loy got hurt May 16 when he was hit by a pitch against Missouri Tech, then re-injured his shoulder Friday when sliding into second base against Missouri. The junior says he slid and "just felt a pop," then could barely move his arm.
The Longhorns are scheduled to open play this afternoon against Missouri.
