Texas Tech volleyball signee and Amarillo, Texas, native Emerson Solano has been named to the 2016 MaxPreps High School Volleyball All-America First Team, the organization announced Tuesday.

Solano is one of 17 high school volleyball players from across the country to receive first team honors and one of two players from the Lone Star State. Athletes selected as MaxPreps All-Americans were evaluated based upon season performance, statistics, coaches’ comments, intangibles and the important of each athlete’s contribution to her team’s success.

The award is one of many for Solano, who led Amarillo High to the 5A State Title this season. She was also named the 2016 Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) 5A-6A Athlete of the Year this month as well as the Texas Association of Volleyball Coaches (TAVC) 5A Player of the Year.

Ranked as the No. 34 prospect in the nation by MaxPreps.com, Solano recorded 14 kills and 11 digs in the state championship game, earning Class 5A State Tournament MVP honors. She averaged 4.3 kills per set with a .385 hitting percentage during her senior campaign, adding 73 aces, 3.8 digs per set, 55 assists and 55 blocks.

Solano, who signed her national letter of intent in November, is one of five high school signees entering the fold for head coach Tony Graystone next season.
