After a string of heartbreaking losses by a possession or two, Texas Tech basketball was able to hold on when the final buzzer sounded.
And it came against the No. 4 team in the country.
An explosive start to the game, paired with aggressive play in the half court offensively led to the Red Raiders taking down Baylor 84-78 Monday night inside United Supermarkets Arena.
As Chris Beard mentioned after the Kansas loss on Saturday, Texas Tech (17-9, 5-8) need four Red Raiders to step up.
And that’s what happened against the Bears.
Keenan Evans led the way with 23 points, followed by Niem Stevenson with 21 and Zach Smith with 11.
Justin Gray posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Aaron Ross was close behind with eight points.
Overall, Tech finished shooting 51.1 percent from the floor and 40 percent from the perimeter.
