uE06E Series record: Texas Tech leads the all-time series with Dallas Baptist, 5-3, winning the last three meetings between the schools. That includes decisions of 21-1 last season at the Midland College Classic and a 15-6 win at Dan Law Field. This will be the first time the Red Raiders will play at Dallas Baptist.

uE06E About the Patriots: Dallas Baptist is in its fourth season as a full-time NCAA Division I member in baseball. … DBU is coming off a solid weekend series in which it came close to taking a non-conference series from No. 5 Texas A&M, beating the Aggies 12-6 on Thursday before losing 9-4 on Friday and 5-4 on Saturday. … The Patriots are led by first-year head coach Daniel Heefner, who took over after Eric Newman (a former Red Raider) was named pitching coach at Nebraska. … The Patriots, hitting .329 as a team, are led by juniors Trevor Head and Evan Bigley. Head is hitting .331 with a team-high 13 home runs, plus 43 RBIs, while Bigley is hitting .337 with 10 homers and a team-best 46 RBIs.

uE06E About the Red Raiders: Texas Tech is coming off a nine-day layoff for finals. The Red Raiders have not played since dropping a 3-2 decision in Big 12 Conference play to Oklahoma on April 27. … The Red Raiders return to conference play on Friday, opening a three-game series at Oklahoma State and hoping to earn a spot in the Big 12 Tournament, which will include only eight teams. Tech is last in the conference standings, but just one game out of eighth place and two games out of seventh. … Texas Tech has cut its roster to 27 players for the final two weeks of the season. Pitchers AJ Ramos, who had successful ulnar collateral ligament repair surgery last week, and Miles Morgan, who is still battling back from shoulder surgery last spring, are not listed on the roster. Neither are infielders Logan Brown and A.J. Schugel or pitchers Brennan Stewart and Jordan Stern. … Over the last five games, in which Tech is 3-2, senior first baseman Jason Seefeld is hitting .381 with three home runs and four RBIs.
