No TV for Tech-OSU

Texas Tech's regular-season finale on Nov. 18 against Oklahoma State will not be televised. The kickoff time will be 1 p.m., Tech officials announced Monday.

Baylor coach Guy Morriss' promise to score 75 points on Tech if the Bears ever get the chance didn't seem to bother Tech coach Mike Leach when he was asked Monday about Morriss's remark.

"I think under the best circumstances, football's frustrating,'' Leach said. "All teams want to do well. All teams want to play well. I would just hope we would be lucky enough to score 76, you know?''

Tech beat Baylor 55-21 Saturday. Late in the game, a video review reversed a play on the field and gave the Tech defense a fumble recovery.

Morriss said he wasn't bothered by the review, but added: "If the day ever comes, we're going to try to hang 75 on their ass. I guarantee you that.''

Leach said Monday he didn't take offense to Morriss's remark.

"I don't get offended by very much,'' he said.

All run, no pass

Oklahoma quarterback Paul Thompson has gone four games in a row and six of the last seven without throwing an interception.

It's not as if he lit it up Saturday, however. Thompson wound up with only 39 yards on 3-of-12 passing. There was a good explanation. Texas A&M couldn't stop OU running back Allen Patrick, who ran for 173 yards.

"I think the way we started the game running it so well, we got maybe a little more comfortable than usual in that style,'' Sooners coach Bob Stoops said. "And in visiting with our coaches, some of what we had prepared to throw wasn't there, so we didn't put ourself in as good a position as we normally do.

"But Paul's more than capable of throwing the football, and we'll get back to more of that.

"And late in the game, we said, 'Let's keep hammering it here. We're playing good defense.' And fortunately it worked.''

A&M quarterback Stephen McGee threw for only 63 yards.

While OU was pounding away with Patrick, A&M was having success with Michael Goodson and Jorvorskie Lane and ran for 204 yards.

"They slam into one another,'' Tech coach Mike Leach said. "I'm not going to lie to you: I said, "Geez, I wish somebody would throw the ball so I could see how this looks, so I could draw some comparisons or something.''
